A Twisted Game

Futuristic America has fallen to the dogs. Technically classified an anarchy, this once great nation is now run by a series of corrupt businesses and an elite upper class. Most other citizens live in squalor, doing their best to scrape a living.

Once each child reaches the age of sixteen, they are entered into a drawing and eight random names are picked each year. Teenagers who enter their names more than once earn money for their families, an amount that doubles with each entry.

You have been selected.

In case you hadn't heard, you have three days to prepare before you will be picked up and transported to the capital. There you will be paired with another candidate, and given a advisor. The next day you will enter The Maze. Running is futile. You will be caught, and will not be given the advantage of a partner in The Maze.

Betting starts the moment you enter the maze, as the entire country watches as you deal with the challenges within. The tournament ends when only one pair (or one person) is left alive.

I will play extraneous characters, unless any of you want to.
Keep it PG 13, people.

NAME: Caryn Seafare

AGE: 17

GENDER: Female

APPEARANCE: Caryn is roughly 5'7, so about average heigth, maybe slightly on the short side. She has curly blond hair that reaches down her back, and skin tanned from constant sun exposure. Her face is an average shape, though her nose is a bit too big and her lips a little too small. She has big green eyes, freckles and straight teeth. Caryn is athleticly built, and well proportioned, like a runner. She has arms like a swimmer.

PERSONALITY: Caryn is a lot more happy-go-lucky than most people in these times. She is quick to laugh, and she knows how to laugh at herself. Caryn is totally straight forward and honest, she always says what's on her mind. She's naturally curious, and determined when it comes to finding answers, so she devours every book she can get her hands on, and the girl is very intelligent from her efforts. When push comes to shove, she won't bend, she holds to her values and fights for what she believes in. At times this means that she can be pigheaded and stubborn, and her quick temper only makes it worse. Caryn has a tendency to treat situations with less seriousness than they deserve, and it's gotten her into plenty of trouble, but it's her way of coping. She has a dry, sarcastic humor in times much as these that makes her seem immature.

HISTORY: Caryn Seafare was born on the coast, the only child of a seamstress and a fisherman. After Cary turned four, her mother contracted a disease, and , because they didn't have the money for a doctor, she died a year later. Despite this, Caryn had a healthy childhood. Her father taught her to fish and garden, and she became good at both, so they supported themselves. Caryn grew up in a small oasis, largely protected from the corrupt state of America, so it came as a total shock when she was chosen for The Maze three days ago.

OTHER: Caryn is a strong swimmer, and can hold her breath underwater for upwards of two-minutes. She can use a gig (small, three-pronged spear used for floundering) and the dock hands taught her to fight. Caryn has been deathly afraid of fire, and small spaces since she was caught in a burning warehouse when she was only ten years old.
